- sending the USSD code using a wrong Sim card.
this is the major reason why the code is not working when you are trying to retrieve your NIN.
you are to send the code using the same sim card you used when enrolling for NIN.

NOTE: if you have bonus airtime bundle in your phone, this code does not make use of bonus airtime, e.g if you load airtime on MTN using *555*, this will be showing as insufficient balance regardless the amount of bonus balance you have.

this is another reason why you can’t check your NIN using *346#.
if you delay too much on your first attempt, your second attempt will result in service time out error.
to resolve this, dial the USSD code straight as *346*1#.

- make sure that you are dialing the code using the Sim card you used when enrolling for NIN.
- load enough airtime on your phone ( not bonus airtime)
- dial the USSD code straight as *346*1#
- make sure you are in a place with a good network connection.
